Having done the interview with George G from Angelic Dreamz made me hanker for a real world doll shop just like his over in Canandaigua, NY. It would be wonderful to wonder round and actually see the dolls before you buy and see meet with other doll lovers too.

I can't remember the last time I went to an actual doll shop here in the UK!

So do you have a local doll shop to go to? Tell us all about it! :)

  • I started my doll collection as an adult in earnest in '99. I have had a pretty extensive collection throughout the years, but living in Hawaii, I'm sad to say that we really never had a collectible dolls store here. In fact, the closest thing we may have had was a dollhouse miniature shop that hung around for quite a while but ultimately closed in the late 90s(?).

My collection was built solely from shopping on the Internet. I have my favorite online stores and have done more shopping on Ebay than I care to admit!  I dream of one day visiting George's store in Canandaigua, but as it's literally on the other, far side of the country, I have sincere doubts I ever will!

That said, thank goodness for the Internet, eh?

  • Last week my daughter wanted to do a road trip so I suggested we go check out the miniature shop in Chautauqua.    WOW! http://www.chautauquaminiatures.com/ There is NOTHING lacking in this store. If you ever get a chance to go down to Chautauqua Lake region in New York, you have to go visit Sandra Duffee and Heather Johnson's beautiful converted barn miniature shop. Great ideas for displaying your collections and then some. Open year round also.

  • Happily Ever After is in my city. I have bought dolls from there, but none recently. (Dolls were Get Set Club.)

Super nice and enjoyable to see some of the dolls I like - playscale Integrity dolls and others. Someday, I'll be able to shop there again. Someday ...

Oh and there used to be a shop called "Small Blue Planet" which was like playscale doll/action figure fan heaven. Alas, that's no longer in business.

Good for my wallet and my sanity that I am not closer to Angelic Dreamz. That would be too tempting ;-D

  • I think you would have fun, come visit anytime!  The area is really beautiful and worth the trip alone, But our store is packed with hundreds of dolls and lots of other items too!

Having just gotten into the fashion doll collecting, I found Angelic Dreamz from a google search. Canadaigua  is only a couple hours away and was thinking it would make a nice road trip. (only who to take with) The only other place listed is the hobby shop I go to for my other doll house stuff.  Yes the world is changing for retail with rental rates so outrageous, it would be hard to justify having a store front for such a limited clientle. Too bad though, it is just so fun to browse a couple hours away and maybe make that unexpected, just have to have that purchase.

  • At FAO I met Mel Odom when the W Club had live events. It was so much fun to go to Manhattan in snow storms. (Not)

And one could always visit Madame Alexander. That's over.

Well when I was in NYC a few years ago FAO Schwarz, on 5th Avenue and 58th, had a fabulous doll department! It was the first time I saw IT dolls as well as Tonners.

I know there are a couple of other, more independent stores too, but can't think of them off the top of my head right now

I'll have to have a think, unless someone else can come to our rescue!

I'm on my way to New York City in a couple weeks. Does anyone know of a store that sells wonderful fashion dolls (like IT or JamieShow) other than Barbie?

  • I've been to Angelic Dreamz and it is a fantasy come true for a collector. When I lived in NY, I was quite close to the Tonner Company Store and visited there quite often. Now the closest doll store is about 1 hour's drive away. I did a blog post about this topic. Here is the link:

Well, not only there's not a Doll Store in my area, but in my whole country!!! Maybe some basic Barbies at some department stores but that's it.I've gotten most of my dolls from eBay and since postal  service is not very reliable or some seller refuse to ship to Mexico I have all my purchases sent to a friend's house in Corpus Christy, Texas. I go there about twice a year for my "Doll Harvest", so sometimes it takes months to enjoy them!!.

In fact, very little people know what "Fashion Royalty", "Sybarite", or Jason Wu mean, ha, ha, ha!! You're so lucky GeorgeG!!!
