Last year we had a lot of fun at an imaginary picnic. I propose another imaginary picnic, with all the members of Doll Observers and and one doll to represent each. Last year our imaginary destination was a beach in the south of France. This year, let's imagine it by the Pool of Neptune in William Randolph Hearst's "Castle". All you have to do is introduce yourself and your doll of choice, and either post a picture of your doll or a description. You are all invited to bring an imaginary dish so that there is plenty of imaginary food to go round!

Welcome to the "Castle!"

Pull up a seat by the pool!

Hello, I am Mary Beth, I am a 30-year old from Tennessee. A chronic illness keeps me from holding down a job, but I have many hobbies, including, reading, writing, art & design, and, obviously, doll collecting.  I bring Prudence with me, she is 16 and Scottish. She loves swimming, competitive or otherwise, she is a very good dancer, and her favorite subjects in school are Science and Literature. We bring several home grown watermelons ("Sweet as bee pollen, on a summer wind") and I will be grilling hamburgers an hot dogs for anybody who wants them. (We would bring haggis, but we couldn't get it through U.S. customs ;) Here is a pic of Prudence, as you can see she couldn't stay out of the pool!

Oh goodie a picnic! And the castle is so beautiful... And sunny which is something we aren't seeing much here in the UK this summer...

Let me hop on the next flight and I'll be with you in 2 shakes of a lambs tail! :)

Well here I am! Sorry the flight took much longer than expected!!

I've brought Dionysis with me, the Superdoll Go Go Champ! She was all set to take part in the Olympics but was disqualified just because she is a doll! Poor lamb! Anyhow she still wants to get use out of her yellow running shorts and pink corset ensemble!

We brought with us some Waldorf salad  with home picked English apples and home-made dressing. There's also some veggie burgers and corn for the barbecue.

Wow it really is beautiful here, and hot!!

Apples, my favorite! And I know how to grill corn in the husk, I hope they're fresh! (I suppose you must have gone through hell in customs, and that's what took so long) Yes it IS quite hot, feel free to make use of the pool! Since Dionysis is so sporty, perhaps she would like to join Prudence in a race? ( I prefer to float on my back indefinitely, my nose will tell me when the food needs to be checked) Would you care to join me in a classic movie moment re-creation? (((Puts Simon & Garfunkel's  "Sound of Silence" on the underwater speakers, dives in and lays on the bottom of the pool, looking up.)))

The sweetcorn is fresh. We got them from a roadside stall on the way here. Californian grown so we were told!

Oh I love that scene from The Graduate. In the pool we come!

SPLASH!!

Hi Susan and Darius! So nice of you to join us! Mary Beth is throwing a very splendid picnic for us all

Hello, I'm Nilsa. I'm from the Republic of Panama and I'm living in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

I decided to bring some apple pie for the picnic. My doll is called Estefanía and is ready to jump in the pool.

Hi all, I'm Valerie. Originally from the green mountain state, Vermont, in the USA, I've been transplanted by marriage and have been living in Thailand for over 20 years...about half my life, give or take a few years. I'm a PhD student now, studying horticulture, and I do translating and editing part time, when I'm not playing with dolls.

How nice to be invited to the picnic at this wonderful location! I brought a refreshing salad made from palmelo (like grapefruit, but better) with shrimp, shallots and crispy coconut, and some lovely coconut ice cream.

I've brought along Emmilou

Hello Susan and Darius, Shrimp is my favorite! Also hello to Nilsa and Estefania, I am having total swimsuit envy! I had one with the same color scheme when I was 14, and I was SO unhappy when I grew out of it! Hello Valerie and Emmilou, and welcome! I must say I am very impressed by all of your activities, Ionly wish I could do ONE of those things! The salad sounds absolutely delicious, not to mention the coconut ice cream.  I'll bet it would be good with Susan and Darius' strawberry shortcake and whipped cream. Let's all be naughty and have dessert first while the cabana boys stretch a volleyball net across the pool. ;)

hello everyone! morgan and i finally got here from wisconsin...better late than never!  thanks for hosting such a great party mary beth!  morgan and i love to cook, so we brought a ton of goodies!!! a spinach, cucumber, red onion salad with a fresh garden herb vinaigrette.  pasta salad w/a cashew butter/chardonnay sauce, sauteed kale, and asparagus.  and for dessert (the best part!) vegan pumpkin/chocolate chip/ginger cupcakes w/cream cheese cinnamon frosting and candied pecans.

and (of course) we also brought a wisconsin farm fresh cheese platter! w/an aged white cheddar, a moody bleu cheese, gruyere, and goat milk pecorino.
