Buenas noches from Mexico :D

Hi Everyone...

First Im sorry for the delay with my presentation and Im sorry for my czech-spanglish :D...

 

Im Tamara (fritamcz, tamushf or tamushf79) you can know me from EG yahoo group, chicas wu or from flickr. Im owner, coordinator and one of the artisans from Plaza Mildendo: www.plazamildendo.com. Im originally from Prague but I live in Mexico-city (thanks to my husband and my previous job) 7 years ago so Im part of the Czech and Mexican (or spanishspeaking) doll community.

 

I worked for foreign affaires of the Czech rep., and I really hated it :D,  but now Im at home with my little son and I work as translator, teacher of Czech language and coordinator and artisan of Plaza Mildendo,

 

I grew in Prague so I have the similar experience with the Barbie like Katie from Rusia :D. Similar but not the same :D... When I was a child Barbie was a impossible dream :D but my parents made it possible - I recieve my first Barbie a few months before the revolution in the 1989 :D

 

I remember that I loved to sew and imagine stories for my first Barbie but I left her for a lot of years when my passion was a Spanish language and Latin America :D. When I came to Mexico it was very hard for me (Mexico is really amazing country but if you live here can be very cruel... Prague is so little and so quiet :DDD) so I decided that I needed some type of therapy :D and I bought a barbie for to sew for her....

 

I bought one and then other, and other and other and then I met some collectors in Prague and I then I met Tonner dolls and I was totally lost :DDD In my collection you can find Tonner, Integrity, Evangeline Ghastly, Pullip, Blythe, Hot Toys and 1:3 Dollzone. Im thinking about to buy (next year) other 1:3 BJD. I rally love sewing and jewelry making for any type of dolls and I love write their stories too... but... lately I have no time :(... in my flickr you can see my photos made for the diaries of my tonner dolls :D

 

Mexican doll community is very small and very young... but we work on it :D One year ago I knew only two collectors here and now we organize meetings every month and we are more and more :D.  Its really fantastic to know other collectors... so Im very happy to be part of this space.

Nice to meet you Tamara! I guess you've got a bright collection! I have different dolls too, Barbies are the most numerous but Tonner, Blythe, BJD are there too (and the new Russian collectible dolls are really remarkable, I got two). The new IT collection is promising as well (but as for me, I'm afraid it will be more and more old Barbies instead of modern fashion dolls haha)
You are right, doing things for the dolls is very relaxing indeed. Just like cross-stitching =) Who was your first Barbie after a long break?

What dolls do Mexican collectors prefer now?

A very welcome in this Ever-growing- crazy-funny-fascinating-doll lover group of people.
I am Lived in Mexico City 2 years and still have found Memory (not talking about contamination ok?) of this city and the people around.
I really love your pictures, great job!!
I, like you did, went from Barbie to Tonner, but I stayed there. I am not a collector, I am just a "player"and Have lot of fun with my "Gang"

Im not collector neither :DDDDDD... I dont buy dolls buy the year of collection... I buy the characters :D but the quantity of my gang forces me to talk about a collection :DDDD I really Tonner maniak but lately I bought some dolls for Plaza Mildendo proyect so the "collection" grew a little bit :DDD

You lived in Mexico-city??? what a shame that I didnt know you before! Do you have much time out of Mexico? I really love this city, but also it can be very cruel to those who are not accustomed to its pace and strength :D.

Im very glad you like me photos.. I hope one day I will continue with the diaries... because as you wrote it Im feleeng me more player than collector :D.

Yes My husband was teaching at UNAM (Geophysics) 1992-94. you are right it is a dificult city to live in for outsider, but we ad very good friends and working on the field through the country, we ad the oportunity to meet Mexican people and they all were sooo sweet, after all the all experience was very positive, now we are living in spain.
in the time I was in Mexico even the Barbie world collector was (for my knowledge)nonexistent. I started one of a kind (OoaK)outfit for Barbie and sold my clothes at school /event but parents were buying them as toys not as collectible, and as seamstress you know the time we can spend on one only dress!!
when we came back in Canada, I kept on doing the OoaK dresses and discovered the Barbie club of Canada ( I even made the dress for the club one year)

Mexican doll collectors community is very interesting :D because the absolute majority of mexican collectors are men! And the most common is that they like or Fashion Royalty Nu Face. Then there is another type of the collectors who are usually young girls who adore Blythe, Pullip and BJD ... and then there are very little group like me who are hopelessly in love with the tonnerdolls.

I think the market is divided by the characters of the dolls. The Integrity are the best models for the same reason the men like them - , photographers, stylists and designers, The Blythe, Pullip and BJD are like children so like the girls in particular and the tonner are best actors so the people like me that love to invent their stories : D prefer them. Well ... I'm generalizing, surely there are times that case observing these rules.

My first Barbie after a long break was the cheapest that I found :D. The basic playline... so ofcourse I needed more and new a and more ... and more :DDDD

I prefer news dolls because I love to pose them... and is easier to pose articulated doll :D

Oh! Every single man in a doll community should be treasured :) I've always thought that most of the doll buyers are women all around the world. (but it's funny how most of the great doll designers are men!)
In my country BJD seem to be the most collected dolls, they have an enormous community and they are very "socially active", so to say. It's strange that Tonner fans are so few in your country. I think the situation will improve! Tonner makes amazing collections and there's a doll for every taste :)

Articulated dolls are the best for play and photography, of course!

Well the mexican collectors comunity is very new... and Im living here only 7 years ago so :D what about any UNAM project for 2011? :D

The czech community is very different to the mexican...there are 300 women and 1 man :D... and the favourite doll is tonner... but ultimately grew othe community... BJD collectors... Its so intereting to observe the growth of the new group...
