Having done the interview with George G from Angelic Dreamz made me hanker for a real world doll shop just like his over in Canandaigua, NY. It would be wonderful to wonder round and actually see the dolls before you buy and see meet with other doll lovers too.

I can't remember the last time I went to an actual doll shop here in the UK!

So do you have a local doll shop to go to? Tell us all about it! :)

I soooooooo would love to have one!

You are totally right Simon, about the feeling of seeing the dolls before buying (and meet with other doll lovers as well). but unfortunately for me (16" dolls lover) nothing at all in my poor region of Spain .Nothing in Badajoz/Caceres/nor Seville other than Barbie who can be found

Barbie & friends can be found in shopping place like Carrefour  for the most common

http://www.carrefouronline.carrefour.es/noalimentacion/NodoTerminal...

or Corte Ingles with some repro and collectible (+ some wigs Moxie Teenz I can use on my big girls)

http://www.elcorteingles.es/tienda/juguetes/facet/facetGlossary.jsp...

but for my new additions I should rely on my beloved mags or sites and my "coup de coeur"

oooohhhh Simon!! why?? why... whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy am I not living there ????

We do have a doll shop, and used to have a wonderful one, but it has changed.  The Doll Market was, for years, the largest doll store in the world.  It was located in Greensboro, NC and was only about 18 miles from my home.  In fact, I worked there for several years!    So I was tempted to own too many dolls!  Now The Doll Market still exists but in a very small location and they do sort of a 'drop ship' business.  A different owner/different way of doing things.  So she usually doesn't even have a new doll on display because she'll only order one.  Just enough to complete the buying requirements with the manufacturers.  It's sad.  I never waste time going there anymore.

it's like time is changing and stay only memories. now buying on line is so common, but i feel your disappointment

it is like going to the book store and browsing around for a specific book we have in mind, then looking around we leave with way more than we came from eh?

as good (and for my case indispensable) as it is, the online market does not offer this we see..we choose...we buy... but do we wonder anymore??

Hi Marilyn, Such a shame! But at least you had the fun of working in a doll shop however I can appreciate that temptation would have been far too much!!

LOL.  Yes.  That's why I have way too many dolls.  It was a beautiful store though.  It was sad to see it go.

Well we had a doll two doll shops in my naborhood and they both closed! it was heartbreaking one shop was hugh and was filled with all kinds of dolls and doll houses and asscories it was wonderful place , they also did doll repair the owner passed and everything in her store went on auction well My best friend and I went and I brought thousands of dollers of dolls for little or nothing! But I wish we had another doll shop! most are all gone now.

That is a shame. I guess in time the only shops in town will be for coffee and clothes and there will be no such thing as independent real life stores! Such a shame :(
