Do you still have your childhood dolls?

I have noticed that quite a few of you lost your childhood dolls due to parents well intentioned acts of 'giving away' your precious toys. Also it seems one or two have managed to keep hold of their treasured childhood dolls. What's your experience? Please share with the group :)

Yes I do. Actually my parents were very carefull with my dolls and toys. They kept them, took care of them and washed them when needed. I'm very lucky. :D

Oh very understanding parents! Mine kept all my toys too in the loft. I would 'visit' with them whenever I went home and most of them are now reunited with me! Sadly no dolls amongst them as I didn't have any as a child :(

All mine given away in one big swoop, Mother still has not heard the last about it yet even though I have got most of them again (probably in better condition than I kept my originals as I played with them a LOT!)

I had very few dolls when I was kid, and no Barbie (not that I am too old...but She was too young hee hee)
I actually discovered Barbie with my kids. My boy was a Ken fanatic and My daughter a real princess (Barbie of course) I kept good care of their treasures washed, ironed, papered protected in a toy chest..but life ..(divorce) changed all that and my former husband's new wife gave the chest away to some of her nieces
My daughter told me how sad it was for her to have lost her friends, and in particular her favorite, "Magic Curl" the lovely doll with a yellow dress, that change her hair style (from Afro-to stiff)
While I was living in Canada, I became member of the Barbie club of Alberta, and after asking around, somebody discovered a brand new Magic Curl !!! what a pleasure to see my daughter eyes in front of the re-discovered treasure!!

Such a lovely story indeed. I also have that doll and love her beautiful hair. I hope that when i have a child he/she will love them as much as I do.

I still have my Malibu Francie and Twist and Turn Skipper. Both very played-with and discoloured with age and stains.

I was always a 'modifier'. The Skipper was a gift from my mom - I never would have chosen her for myself, as she had bangs and permanent banana curl ponytails. I didn't like bangs and the fact that I couldn't comb her hair, so I chopped off her bangs, loosened her curls and chopped them off too! I still love them though. :)

Not at all. I have never valued my dolls in a monetary sense. It's always been about enjoying myself. They bring me much pleasure. They're like little people!

My daughter is not a doll lover anymore, neither a collector, but her daughter (6 years old) is a real princess as her mom once was and Barbie is a MUST for her. I am sooo lucky hee hee.
