I have noticed that quite a few of you lost your childhood dolls due to parents well intentioned acts of 'giving away' your precious toys. Also it seems one or two have managed to keep hold of their treasured childhood dolls. What's your experience? Please share with the group :)

I do everything by hand, I've never used a sewing machine. I gotta hint my parents that it would be a good gift for my graduation soon :P

I'm not sure if I understand your method completely, do you think I could find pictures of what you just described somewhere..?

you can fin some good tips in this site. I learn how to sew some years ago but still struggle some time to time. I made lot of garment by hand, and even today sewing by hand for tiny dresses (or part of it) seems easier than with the machine.

Thanks for the tip!! :D
My parents haven't ever tried to give away my dolls and toys! The less valuable are somewhere in the garage packed away, the most beloved are at home.)

My childhood Malibu Barbie was spirited away in a yard sale long ago, but it was ok because she'd been through some alterations. I'd popped off her head several times, first just to see if it could be removed, then a few more times to alarm my younger siblings. I cut her hair, applied my mom's bright coral lipstick and touched up her eyes with a blue ink pen. Come to think of it, who'd pay for something like that? Maybe she was really just tossed out, and nobody wanted to break it to me.
