I just found out how silly I've been. eBay can't help it, it's my stupid mistake. I honestly thought that if I'd search ebay.com every day, I'd capture everything around the world on eBay at that time, with that particular search phrase. Whoops. I just tried ebay.co.uk and found SO much more fitting stuff for my 6" dolls, including some dolls. TLC and overpriced, so I'm not going for them right now, but still. I must have missed a lot.
Which domains do you check for dolls? I think I'll AT LEAST have to check three domains daily now: .com, .co.uk and .nl. Oh, .de could be useful too. And .ru. Lol. Just for the record, I already thought searching eBay was a drag because there are SO many search phrases I need to use not to miss anything:
- 'pamela love'
- 'pamela simba'
- 'sarah louise'
- 'zodiac toys'
- 'ocean toys'
- 'cean toys'
- 'little susana'
- 'little angela'
- 'mini sindy'
and I'm probably forgetting a few. Sometimes combining things like 'little ballerina debenhams' gets me the right dolls as well. Lol.
Hey, I chose this hobby :P
Yeah, I know what you mean. Most people who own Pams, don't know they're Pamela Love. And since they aren't marked Simba on their backs, but Ocean Toys (which people often think says 'Cean Toys'), just like other similar dolls, it's very hard to find them. Most people don't even bother looking on their back or head. They throw them with a bunch of other dolls in one lot. Sigh. :P Which is why I also look for ads on marktplaats.nl, searching for 'several barbie dolls' lol. Every now and then I'm that fanatic...
Fortunately, most boxed dolls are named correcly when they're on auction. Although yesterday I found - completely by accident - an auction for a 'Pamela Dove' :P
Just got an e-mail from todocoleccion.net...
"The seller of item number 23940373, for sale in allcollection.net has decided to delete your question
'May I ask why you won't send the dolls outside of Spain? I'm willing to take the risk. I can pay through PayPal or bank transfer.'
for considereing it inapropriate."
Oh well. Can't say I didn't try -_-
And they can't spell 'inappropriate'. So there.
I think to have 30 listings or 'Good until sold' are only available if you have an Ebay shop. Fees will not be high if you start low - although remember you have final value fees. If I am really selling well, my ebay fees can be up to $500 a month - although now I use Auctiva I hope that will come down a bit.
Ebay is getting worse and worse - much harder to navigate than it was a few years ago - although I guesss compared to when it started it is faster....I have to go and list some things today and I so don;t feel like it!
Yes, sometimes selling low cost items ( under $25) doesn't seem worth the work - but once you know how to do it, it an be very quick, and the money does add up.One of my friends sells books and other stuff she doesn't want all year and leaves it in her paypal account - it's her holiday spending money every year, like a sort of saving account.
Selling low cost items is annoying, as all the trouble I have had on ebay has been over these items, buy I would rather get something than nothing, and it does help increase my feedback.
The majority of sales I do are our own doll, Lalka, who sells for $175 or higher end Sindy - but I'll sell anything.....
I do assume that if buyers are going to buy something they are going to take the trouble to read the description! If they don't well, they have only themselves to blame, but ebay do not see it that way and always find in the favour of the buyer. I do sssume that people use a computer - that's what ebay is designed for - NOT an ipad or whatever.
I'm really tired of inane questions from buyers! For example ' Is this a real Bild Lilli?' Well, err - am I really going to sell a real Lilli for $175 BIN? READ the description......we are really exact in what we write and it took us a long time to get the description accurate. I had someone recently oaning that the body of oour doll is painted - it says so in the very begining oof the description - which they had obviously not read....
