Hello, I've just joined Doll Observers in hopes of chatting with others who share my interest in these beautiful creations. I have a mixture of collectible Barbies, but am attracted to all sorts, so it's a group assembled more by preference than brand name. I also have a habit of customizing my dolls and creating little scenarios for them.

This tendency turned into a stronger interest when I was shopping for necklaces one day, and found the most gorgeous creature I'd ever encountered wearing a fetching choker. Those beautiful, long-lashed eyes... that sultry half-smile... a razor-cut bob hairstyle unlike anything I'd ever seen on a Barbie.. I *had* to know who she was.

This heartstopping vixen turned out to be Fashion Royalty's Sheer Goddess Veronique, and became my introduction to the realm of more serious collecting. She led me to discover a whole world of amazing dolls with an addictive variety of looks and possibilities. Now my wish list includes names like Kyo, Auden and Luchia.

I've learned that my penchant for making over my dolls and placing them into various situations is shared by others, who are far more professional at it. I'm amazed by the things people have done to change their dolls' appearances, and the incredibly realistic dioramas they've made.

Who would have thought several years ago that I'd be ordering tiny Oriental rugs to provide my dolls the comforts of a "real" home, rather than letting them perch uncomfortably on top of a bookshelf? :-) Anyway, that's how I became fascinated by this very interesting pursuit. It's nice to meet you!

Welcome!  You have definitely found a friendly 'home' full of like minded people! =D

LOL, I think we all (here)have this kind of sweet craziness that make us lovable .

I tried several time to repaint my dolls but was not very convince (at least not positively :) of the success of the experience,

so as I leave this, to other more talented then me, and have great fun doing diorama for my "Gang" (most of them Tonne/Odom/Alexander). as most of  my "founds"go on dolls, I recycle a lot and craft my own furniture/books/curtains...etc

I make all they clothe and have the greatest fun! (if you sew as well for your dolls please consider joining "Sew Much Fun" group

Dolly sheers

Just added Luchia Future Bound to my little group!  Shouldn't have done it, but she was too gorgeous to resist. Now am in the same quandary with her as with Sheer Goddess. They're NRFB and I'm dying to break their bonds and enjoy them, but that means two less in existence who remain un-tampered-with. Does anyone else have this conflict?  I think I need to find less expensive used nudes to fearlessly retouch, since there's no way I could give this one more black eyeshadow on the outer corners, lighten her lips or dye her blonde hair black with a clear conscience.

for my part as I am definitively more a player than a collector...dolls are mint to get out!!

I tried some time to time to change a bit the appearance of some of my "Gang". I buy my dolls naked (cheaper) and change just a few, as I am definitely not an expert at this.

I bought 3 Tyler, and 3 Matt (R. Tonner ) but didn't plane to have tween, so I cut the hair and put wigs, as well I repainted the eyes and created some scars just to give to them a face close to their personality, but this will not go more than this as I noticed if the paint job is not perfect, it does show dramatically on the pictures as if to tell me

-"see, you should have left it as is!!"

Have been toying (no pun intended) with the idea of turning one of my blander guys into a ravishing knockout, but given my rudimentary makeover skills, decided to just go for one who's already that way, rather than fail miserably to achieve my goal of perfection and wind up with an unsightly mess. No retouching would ever be needed on Fashion Royalty Dynamite Girls Summer Daze Kyu!  He's one of the most attractive male dolls I've ever seen. I think Veronique and Luchia might be ok with having him in the same room, though he'll have to remove those flip flops to avoid getting sand all over their rug.     Matt's pretty hot too... will have to make sure Vero & Luchia keep their eyes on their own area and not start looking around outside. I think I'll just leave the FR's to their own devices and save the eyeshadow for my more amenable Barbies.

Have a few Barbies exempt from makeover attempts ~ Halle Berry as Catwoman, who's already exactly the way she should be, and an anonymous brunette Model Muse who's too cute to change a thing. And of course DOTW Japan & Joan Jett. Everyone else is fair game!

Off to find a suitably debonair, yet slightly edgy, outfit for Kyu.... I'm thinking well-tailored pants & jacket of an interesting material, with a dash of eggplant-colored accessorizing?
