I joined yesterday but was so busy playing with my newest sybarite, Sinatra, I forgot to introduce myself!  I love getting a new doll, redressing her and seeing what else she looks good in.  I'm Valerie and I collect all kinds of dolls, but lately I'm concentrating on resin ball jointed dolls and Sybarite fashion type dolls.  I also have Jamie Show dolls, Madam Alexander Cissys, CED dolls and smaller dolls like Barbie and Fashion Royalty.

My resin ball jointed dolls are all styles and sizes.  I love fantasy dolls and the tiny animal ball jointed dolls.  I started in 1990 with a Volks Super Dollfie, but prefer the 16" size dolls now or smaller.  I do have some large 26" ones, but don't play with them as much.  They stay on the shelf.

Another hobby of mine is sewing for my dolls.  I resize patterns for all size dolls and love created something different and unusual.  I like the Steampunk styles and have an interest in sewing historical style outfits as well.  I save all the patterns in the doll magazines and try to get to them when I can.  I just finished the sweater dress in Haute Doll in two sizes, for 16" dolls and enlarged it for cissy.

I also like to customize and paint my resin ball jointed dolls and try to order them unpainted so I can airbrush them the way I want.  I have a new face plate coming for my Unoa Chibi with some resin shoes and bunny ears to paint, so that will be fun.

Doll Observers looks like a great place.  It is easy to post pictures and there are many interesting groups to check out.  So far I've joined the Sybarite group, but want to look into the others too.  I'm enjoying all the member photos.

Hi Valerie,

Thanks for the hello! It's great to hear more about you and your hobby

I'm also glad to hear that you are enjoying our community so far. I am very jealous of your Sinatra and have enjoyed living vicariously through your pics of her

I'm so happy you're here, Val.   Please, share your collection with us!  We all love to live vicariously through the dollys of others.

Hey!  I just printed out the sweater pattern from Haute Doll last night!    But today I've been working on a Merry Widow for my AG girls, so the sweater dress will have to wait its turn.  I've been finding TONS of exquisite lace on Evil Bay (I'm totally NOT telling how much I've spent so far! ) that I want to turn into pretty lingerie for AGs and Sybs...I hope to post some pix soon.  Would love to see some of your Steampunk efforts!!  You've probably noticed we're lousy with seamstresses, so you're in good company.

Thanks, that sweater dress was a great pattern.  I love Marsha Olsen patterns. They always fit well and are fairly quick to finish.  I cut up a sweater, but may try it with a sock next, if I find a knit print that I like.  Here are a couple of pics of some Steampunk outfits I made, also with Marsha Olsen patterns from Haute Doll.  These were for Ellowynne Wilde, but I used them for Delilah Noir dolls.

This one was my own pattern design

I printed the silk fabric print on my ink jet printer after scanning in some Steampunk printed pictures.  The brocade hat is the Marsha Olsen pattern from a previous Dolls magazine.  That was really fun...it uses a store bought doll top hat and you just glue fabric on it.  The burgundy hat is by Feltrope Studios on Ebay.  She makes fabulous hats.
