I say "primarily" because I am planning on getting my first Fashion Royalty (Integrity) doll very soon. I'm also sorely tempted to get Moxie Teenz (MGA). Haha I'm sure you all understand the urge to get a lovely doll no matter who the manufacturer is.
Anyway, I just joined Doll Observers this week. What a vibrant community of doll lovers! I'm very excited!
So I'm a Barbie collector...and fairly new at it--I started collecting last year. My first doll was Barbie Basics Model No.16 Collection 002 (a.k.a. Harley Ken). Since then, I have amassed close to a hundred Barbie collector dolls. My collection primarily consists of the model muse collector dolls (Barbie Basics and the more recent releases), but I have begun to collect BFMC Silkstone dolls as well.
You can find me on BarbieCollector.com as "iamken85". I am a bit active in their photo forum because I love to photograph my dolls. Having a good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, I actually edit the Barbie images and place them in various real world settings. You can check out my photo blog on Tumblr: Life in Plastic by Barbie Guy.
The blog is just starting to pick up a following on Tumblr, but I also have a Facebook page, which has received many "likes". You can also follow me on twitter: @BarbieGuyKen.
I look forward to making new friends in this community.
Thanks to Simon and Lilly for rolling out the welcome mat, and everyone in the community for sharing your love of fashion dolls!
Yours in Barbie® (et al.),
Jared

I wish I had more fashion doll friends in the NY/NJ area. We could get together and exchange ideas and I could share some Photoshop tips.
I'm fairly new to collecting, so I haven't joined any local doll clubs. Does anyone here know of a group in the NY metro area?

Permalink Reply by Nilsa M. Donelan on April 19, 2012 at 17:24 Yes, San Antonio, TX. I know MIranda who lives here in S. Antonio and a member here too, but there isn't really a fashion doll club that I can find.

Awwww, I wish we had a club here in Abilene, Texas too. It's quite a bummer to not have anyone to play with and get hands on learning from. I'm just doing it out here on my own except for the wonderful friends I have met here, flickr, FaceBook, and my blog.
Permalink Reply by Jared P on April 20, 2012 at 5:31 Nilsa and Susan, maybe you should start one.
I know TX is huge, and you two could very well live hours apart, but maybe you could start one for the whole state and just have local chapters that meet more frequently--and just have one umbrella group that meets once or twice a year...
I know, it's ambitious...just a thought.
Permalink Reply by Nilsa M. Donelan on April 20, 2012 at 18:08 we could plan a San Antonio Doll Day!

Well, if anyone is in the NY area...visiting or living here...I would love some new doll friends whom I can meet with in person and share all sorts of doll stuff with! I'm serious!
