Hello everyone!

My name is Cindi Mortensen, and I LOVE Barbies!  I've always played with Barbies as a child, but like so many others, I grew up and my dolls were either lost or given away.  I still have a Ken (talking), twist-n-turn Barbie (70s), and Skipper (around 1964 or so).  Then back in the early 90s, my stepdaughter gave me a Barbie doll, Teresa doll actually, for Christmas as a joke.  Well....next thing I know I wanted a Ken, then another Barbie.   Then I decided they needed a house.  But not just any house..noooo.  I built her a mansion, yes a mansion, from Real Good Toys.  Took me eight months to build it....That's how it started...

Now I have many fashionista Barbies. I love the fact that they are fully articulated and poseable.  Since my Barbie mansion is in storage (I've no place here to put it), I've started working on a diorama.  I build my own Barbie furniture.  I hope to post pics at some point when life stops interfering!  LOL

Thank you for welcoming me to Doll Observers!  I really happy to be here!

Wow, Cindi...those Real Toys houses are pricey, but SO worth it!  Please share pix when you have time, I love to live vicariously through other's experiences with building in 1:6 scale.

I started a similar "project" but the thought of having to clean out my Daughter's old room so I would have a place for the 5'x6' structure put the kibosh on that.

Besides, cleaning house takes too much time away from making doll shoes, wigs, jewelry, clothes, etc.

Hi Deb!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I can relate to not having enough room for my Barbie "habit."  And life does have a funny way of interfering with the things we REALLY want to be doing.  I do have pics of the mansion someplace, but the structure itself is in the storage room.  Geez!  Good luck getting to it...it's waaayyyy in the back!  LOL  But I promise I'll try to find the pics I do have, scan them and post them here.

Great to meet you!

Oh boy, I've got a "storage room" myself, also known as "The Pit of Despair" (aka basement).

Take care!  You just got here, we don't want to have to organize a Doll Observers search party for you!

Hi Cindi can't wait to see your dioramas. Your mansion sounds amazing too, shame you have no room to show it off :(

I know, right? I have pics of the mansion someplace, but I've moved twice since then.   As for the dioramas, I'm working on a couple.  I promise I'll post pics here when I can....
