Hello, Everyone!

My name is Debbie and I am a fashion doll collector from Philadelphia, and I am most interested in Fashion Royalty and Barbie. I started officially collecting dolls back in the 1990's when my daughter bought me a holiday Barbie for Christmas. My daughter worked at Toys R Us then, and that was when they sold a lot of the collector Barbies and had a huge display case filled with them. The non-collector Barbie dolls then were so cute, too, so I was quickly hooked. I had always loved Barbie as a girl, but never realized adult collectors even existed. My doll collecting hobby expanded when I discovered Ebay, and went beyond Barbie a few years ago when I learned about the Integrity line of dolls.

I took a year off from doll collecting and am excited to get back into it now. My dolls are all packed away, as I am in the process of selling my house so I no longer have any dolly inspiration. I happened to check into the Doll Divas board the other day for a quick look at the new dolls, and now I am hooked again!

I might have to unpack a box of my favorite dolls, as I really miss looking at them. I'm kind of afraid I won't be able to stop at unpacking just one, though. I will try to control myself when I look at everyone's beautiful doll photos, but it will be tough.

I look forward to sharing my passion for doll collecting with all of you!

Hey, Deb!

So far I have stuck with collecting 1:6, but I am tempted by some of those 16 inch dolls by Integrity. I am trying to reign that temptation in, as I feel like my options will be limited and pocket emptied even quicker if I give in. I already have enough problems among the smaller girls with the sharing of clothes and accessories; Poppy and Misaki with their flat feet, Eve Kitten with her well-endowed torso, and a variety of Integrity and Mattel body types that restrict clothes sharing.

I love swapping clothes and putting different outfits together, and those more statuesque ladies will need clothes, accessories, furniture, etc. to increase the enjoyment of collecting for me. If I get into all that then the smaller dolls might get put on the back-burner (then I'll be paying a fortune to catch up on dolls I miss once I fall back in love), or the whole collecting thing will get out of control again. I just downsized a bit for the move, and am trying to keep my collection more manageable.

I plan on having a doll/sewing/craft room, as I am also a big DIY'er. I need a place for my sewing machine, serger, and tons of sewing and craft supplies, so I was planning on just combining everything in one room.

I make settlement in two weeks, so I might disappear for a few weeks after that while I unpack. However, I will be back to posting once I free the ladies from their plastic storage bin prisons. I'm sure by then I'll have lots of doll shopping stories and moving horrors to share.

Welcome back to the dolly world, Deborah.   So do your interests lie strictly in 1:6 scale, or do you occasionally fall into the 1:4 scale trap?

We're all looking forward to seeing pix of your collection as they begin to occupy your new digs.  Are they going to have their own room?  This topic is especially near and dear to my heart right now because I'm considering doing the same with the room my Daughter vacated about 4 years ago.  Up till now it's been used for storage (read: 'dumping ground' ), but as my doll collection continues to grow, and shows no signs of stopping, I think the room is slated to be a combination doll/kimono/exercise room.
