What do you look for when you're buying dolls online? Do you prefer NRFB or in need of some TLC, or both?
I personally started out buying all the Pamela Love dolls (and other Ocean Toys dolls) I could find. I ended up with loads and loads of bodies and heads to use, but most of the heads have dry, tangled hair. When I found out that even Pamelas show up on eBay NRFB, if you look hard enough, I focused all my attention on those dolls. I don't have a lot of money to spend as a student, and buying all the dolls I can find is a dream for the future :P. For the moment I have more than enough old dolls to reroot and restyle, so I try (:P) to only buy dolls MIB right now.
Current joys are these on todocoleccion.net:

I hope to win them tonight, in two hours and 20 minutes!
On the same website, these are a frustration for me every day, because the Spanish seller refuses to ship internationally:

I already have one of those dolls MIB in my collection, but I don't care. I want them. Meh :P

If I am buying on the secondary market then I don't mind if items are boxed or not as I don't leave things NRFB so as long as they are in good condition then I am happy :)
Good luck with your auctions, I have my fingers crossed for you!

Either nobody has noticed they're there and I'll get them for €1 each without a hassle, or someone waiting to bid 30 seconds before it ends :P. With Pams you never know, I sometimes get them for less than €5 and other times people are bidding against each other and one doll goes for €30. It doesn't make sense.
I really hope I get these dolls, I've never owned a Monte Carlo Pamela before, even 'boxless' :P, so they're really special. Their dresses are gorgeous. What's funny though... The one in the white dress doesn't appear on the 'Monte Carlo' page of the catalogue. ???
I'm leaving all my boxed dolls in their boxes so far, although I'm often tempted to take them out. The boxes make me happy, they bring back memories.

P.S.: Unless they go for €25. €15 is my limit because I simply can't afford more expensive dolls.
Permalink Reply by Evelien on February 4, 2011 at 23:49 I won the dolls for €1 each! Lol! !! How awesome is that! They might be the most beautiful dolls in my collection yet and I got them that cheap?! Insanity...
I completely forgot about the auctions by the way, was watching a movie with my boyfriend when I got tired and wanted to go to bed... Went to my study where my laptop was still on and suddenly realised I'd been bidding on the dolls lol. I wouldn't have been there to stop any evil 30-seconds-left-bidders. Thank heavens that I'm lucky enough to have won the dolls anyway,
Can't wait till they get to me!!!
I keep learning about Pamela by the way. Today I received a boxed Pamela ballerina, a real treasure for me. Probably the first ever sold by Simba, where she wasn't called Pamela Love yet, but 'Ich bin Pamela aus them Hause', which is German for 'I'm Pamela from the house' (??). I'm not sure haha, I'm not that great at translating German, but it's a sentence that can't go wrong really... Oh well.
Permalink Reply by Evelien on February 5, 2011 at 17:56 I'm talking to myself here :P, oh well.
I just found a Pamela outfit from the"Miami" series, MIP, listed as 'Pamela Dove'. Lol! I'm happy I was searching for just the word "Simba" for a change...
So exciting, I've never owned a Pam or an outfit from the "Miami" series before! My collection is growing so fast!

Permalink Reply by Evelien on February 6, 2011 at 9:46 I'm buying NRFB dolls mostly right now because I'm on a budget, however weird that may sound :P
Having not a lot of money, I figured I might as well focus on the rare dolls in their boxes now, and later, when I've graduated and hopefully will have a bit more to spend, I can buy every TLC doll I can find again. I'm afraid that if I don't take my chances now with the NRFB dolls I find, I won't ever find them again.
Besides, I have enough TLC dolls lying around to be rerooted and restyled at the moment, which I already don't have time for :P
When I just started collecting Pams again, one year ago, I got involved in a bidding war just once. It was the first time I saw an NRFB Pam doll and I was just in awe. But the night the auction ended I finally placed my bid and the first bidder had apparently set a max bid that was so high, that when I'd bid €25 I still couldn't win. That was too expensive for me, so then I let it go. At that time I didn't know yet that I'd get much prettier NRFB Pam dolls for MUCH less! :D

Permalink Reply by Evelien on February 6, 2011 at 14:01 Omg just found these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200571432963...
Most of them are Pippa/Dawn shoes which don't fit my Pams, but omg! Those white ankle boots, 4 pairs of them! Those were sold on Siso/Ocean Toys dolls. I already have a few pairs, but I love them, so I want more. But it looks like it'll turn into a bidding war and, frankly, for just a few pairs of doll shoes the price has already gone up a bit too high for my liking...
Hnnnnnngggg too much temptation!
Permalink Reply by Evelien on February 6, 2011 at 14:04 This is cute!!! The size of the beds is perfect and I already have a doll with a nurse's uniform, I could create an awesome hospital scene!! Omg omg omg I shouldn't be looking at this, I'm broke :P
