I have seen the newer dolls, however, the one all I got was all my budget would allow for since I spent so much during the holiday season. I picked her up second hand obviously, out of curiousity mainly. Thank for the pointers on her scale. Im gonna have to see what I can find for her. Undecided If i've got the bug. LOL Im sure once I get her out to play I may just catch it.

Thanks! And welcome to Tonner collecting. You have one of the older dolls, which are not molded or painted as well as the newer ones. Visit TonnerDirect.com to see the latest dolls, they are quite astonishing. You can work with them in 16 inch scale, lots of sewing patterns are available on ebay, I would recommend ebay seller DesignsbyJude. Furniture is extremely hard to find, and when you do find it, it is expensive. If you are interested, however, check out the AngelicDreamz Website, which has 16 inch scale furniture available from Integrity Toys.

Yes, I have always had affection for Barbie and I joined the Barbie Club for the first time last week. I got pulled into collecting Monster High dolls back into 2010. And I honestly LOVE those dolls. I started to see and truly appreciate my love of all dolls (fashion) at that point. I am always in awe of others dolls, clothes, and dioramas. So I began to sew some things for my daughters Monsters. (and I by the way I secretly think they are mine, LOL)
I agree with you about your Gene doll, I feel the same about my TW. I do not love her face. Typically that is what draws me in. With a small budget and a larger curiosity I had to order this doll. i could not imagine that her size would be so large. Only seeing them on the Tonner website and on flicker and such you really can't imagine unless you physically can see one in front of you. I hope I can fall for her....I love what others have done and can do with this scale. Wish me luck.

~first of all congratulation on your new edition!
I know the feeling believe me. some years back I was just (if not collector)a Barbie fan, I was making/sale outfit for her (see the first posts in my blog http://domidoll.blogspot.com/ ) then as I was member of the Barbie club of Alberta (Canada) one of the member brought Gene Marshal (Mel Odom) OH My Doll was i instantly in love !! I didn't love her face so much (her over make up eyes didn't impress me much) but the size..the scale...the proportion...and elegance wow!! It didn't take long before I bought (expensively for me at time, compared to the second hand Barbies I was used to buy ) but believe me I was hooked!. and then when Tyler went out I was dreaming (literally) about her! Hubby decided that I wouldn't be happy without her and bought one. when I received her my heart exploded. Lilly as you can see,(Tyler) is still my favorite . now all my gang is composed of Tonner/Mel Odom/Mme Alexander and other dolls of this size. I have more the 30 of them. each of them has a story, a personal life, a personal address's (working on it right now with Google map)a job etc...
believe me if you want me to talk about my Gang I "Talk a lot!!

First let me say this is my first Tonner/Tyler Wentworth or any larger doll for that matter. I am in total shock!!! I had no idea how much larger these dolls are!!!! She is lovely. However, I have no idea what scale to use with her. I wish her face was prettier. I've seen so many beautiful repaints, but to my dismay I am not a talented painter. Would love to meet others who have experience with these larger dolls. Oh my goodness, I have never been so excited and confused at the same time. Lol

Permalink Reply by Silkstone001 on February 24, 2012 at 6:07 well my latest one , is now don't laugh because she's a little older but its Luchia Z addicted, that doll was on my holy grail list and i finally got one, so I was very happy to get her she will be shown as soon as i finish her gown as she came to me nude, so i restyled her hair and am making a gown for her.
I purchased 2 Barbie doll from 1996 from ebay(btw it was my first purchase from there) to just refresh my childhood memories. I am waiting for them arriving my home.
