Hi All!

Just sharing a Kimono I made for my Sybarite Katana. She is wearing an inner robe inside to protect her from staining. I also customized and accessorized the wig to make it look more like a Geisha.

Pattern is a generic one I found on the internet for Gene which I resized to fit the Sybarite body.

So I'm trying to reduce all my stuff, rather than start stacking storage bins to the ceiling, so some things I can bear to part with are being put on the auction block.  This is one of the few that are going to be looking for a new home...

Oh Thanks you dearly Deb, I really appreciate !!

I have a tone of silk shirt, I will soon try my hands on those . I really love silk and it would be a shame not to have a kimono from this so precious ans lovely fabric.

AWESOME job, Lilly!  She would feel right at home among my collection of Geisha and Oiran ningyo.  The buttercup yellow looks so nice with the plum color.  Contrasting, yet so complimentary.

Oh my doll!! I followed carefully Deb advice and placing my kimono left over right...left over right... don't forget left over right so I did...then I took my pictures and (as usual) I play a bit with them, crop them, sharpen them and...horizontal flip them (why??? I have no idea)  but all my pics arrived ...heu right over left

here you have the right pic

and look left over right!!

Can't wait to see what you come up with using your silk shirts, Lilly!  I have some old silk shirts too, wonder where they went?    This is one of the reasons I'm selling stuff, I'm on the verge of becoming a hoarder.

While this kimono can still be worn, the gold couching and the gold leaf/paint have oxidized and become an unpleasant green.    Never seen any kimono act like this.  The really sad thing is the way you fold a kimono has allowed the tarnished areas to bleed onto the ivory fabric and leave a mark where there would otherwise be none.

While I would never butcher a kimono in order to cannibalize the fabric, there are lots of folks that do, and this garment would probably be more suited to salvage (or wall display) than wearing.  I would let her new owner be the judge of that.

It really hurts my heart that this has happened to one of my 'babies'.

I so understand this  I would cry to see this happening. but maybe the future owner will have a good understanding of this, and will display it !! kimonos are such pieces of art!

I have the opportunity to try one once (it was in Mexico city) I was learning Spanish with Japanese classmate it was such an experience!! just amazing I was like a princess! for real  hee hee I should find those pictures :)
