Nostalgia: clothes I made in my childhood

Started by Evelien. Last reply by Valerie Suwanseree May 17, 2012. 3 Replies

My mother recently found back all my Pams' clothing, both original fashions and homemade stuff from my childhood. I decided to dedicate an afternoon to styling my dolls using my homemade, well, crap :P. Cause to be honest, the clothes are terribly…Read More

Fitting furniture

I'm trying to decorate my dollhouse full of Pams, but it's só hard. I love regular dollhouse stuff but it's all made for a 1:12 scale, whereas 6" dolls are, what, 1:10? They're slightly too big for regular dollhouse furniture. It's not impossible,…Read More

Found Dawn Clone looks like real Dawn

Started by Tropical Thought. Last reply by Lynda Van Etten Oct 2, 2011. 2 Replies

Item number 270705688794, looks like real dawn and not Pippa, because dawn has the darkest eye makeup. Dawn's eye make up is too black, and too much mascara, like this doll. It said Plymouth, but I have never heard of that name, can someone tell me…Read More

Started by Tropical Thought. Last reply by Tropical Thought May 16, 2011. 3 Replies

I got some Glitter Girls on ebay out of the box, these ones came with a ring and wore gowns of silver, gold, green, red and so on, and had the names amber, ruby etc made in 1982 I think. But the dolls all either had an ugly bubble that held the legs…Read More

What do you look for when you're buying dolls online? Do you prefer NRFB or in need of some TLC, or both? I personally started out buying all the Pamela Love dolls (and other Ocean Toys dolls) I could find. I ended up with loads and loads of bodies…Read More

Hi everyone, I'm new but not new to collecting small dolls! I have loads of Dawn, Pippa, JPI Starr, and clones.  Evelien, I wish I could make clothes too....can't hand sew that well either...and here I go and buy tons of fat quarters to make clothes with.  I'd be glad to commission someone to make something cool from them tho! ;)

What type of doll are you working on? :)

I'd like to start making more doll clothes as well, but I don't know how to sew using a machine and my handwork is crappy :P. Something I wanna learn!

I like all those dolls, very nice looking. I have a reroot also, I am so busy, that I don't have time to pick her up. It is mostly all the house work and the errands, that bog me down. And I want to do more sewing, I have a singer featherweight, but I can't find time to do anything right now. And I work in the afternoons.

You're right about that, I have one doll that I think was very cheap (the Fairlandtoy 1983 doll from my discussion in the ID-ing group), because she is only rooted in the middle of her head, a bit like a mohawk style :P. Then again I don't want to give her new hair because A) the hair she DOES have looks fine and B) I'm afraid I'll make her less pretty when I start adding hair. So I see where you're coming from :)

I don't have a lot of rerooting experience myself, I only did two Pams and I'm "working" on the third. Yeah, not working, but "working", lol, because I stopped working on her about a year ago because of studying stress. I'll finish her soon after I graduate though. :)

I am not sure, if she is supposted to have less hair. Lots of clone have cheaper thinner hair. I am so bad at rerooting, I would destroy her if I took my hand to the doll. LOL

Nice coat indeed, I like the fabric! Her hair is a bit thin isn't it? Is she missing plugs? I think you could make her look fabulous with just a bit of new hair :D

I got a dawn clone today. I just got back from a nancy jo doll show, and I picked up a dawn clone for 5 dollars. I used the dawn site to ID and she is Fashion World, a blond. She has broken eye lashes, but the hair is ok, and no greening. This is not my favorite dawn clone. I like Tina Mod or the others better, but there was only one dawn clone in the whole show and just a few dawns, but those are more expensive. She has a nice orange coat, I have to get her cleaned up before I can post a photo.

Too bad I threw away a broken Katie from my childhood like two weeks ago, I could have shown you they're quite different :)
