Foreign Superstar Barbies

I'm a sucker for foreign Superstar Barbies. By fave are the ones from Japan and Latin America. They are rare and expensive, but the facepaint is so much better than anything I've ever seen.

Why were there so much difference between territories do you think? Were they made in different factories or designed independently from US Mattel?

They were made in local factories and that must be the reason they are different. In Mexic they were made by Cipsa, in Argentina by Top Toys, in Venezuela by Rotoplast, in Peru by Basa and so on.
