Introduce your Tangkou girls here ^_^ (oh, and yourselves too!)

This is my  Tangkou 'Italia' doll.  Her name's Zinnia and I'm completely smitten with her :)

I'm Holly, I live in the UK, married with a tween daughter and a Jack Russel terrier.  Ex dog trainer I'm now a digital artist & doll enabler :)

Hi Holly, thanks for introducing this doll to me. Zinnia looks really beautiful.  I think I will have to get one of these dolls sometime!  I had a look at the http://www.tangkoudoll.com/ website.  I really like the Chinese Girl.

Hi Diane!  I don't think you'll regret the decision!  Some of the dolls are rooted, some have wigs. Chinese girl is lovely, but I think the most expensive (typical!)  The quality is not so good as Blythe, but not bad by a long shot.  I think some of the early girls had an issue in their feet breaking but they seem to be ironing problems out and my girl has been fine.  There's also a Tangkou Flickr group where people have discussed this.  I would say her body is close to Pullip quality in construction, though the plastic might be cheaper. My girl has a bit of a gap between her scalp and faceplate but I don't think it would be a hard fix :)

Is the scalp the same size as Blythe's?

No, it isn't.  Tangkou's head is a little smaller than Blythe's.  I haven't taken a Tangkou apart yet, I found this picture though and the construction looks quite similar http://www.flickr.com/photos/77422253@N02/6885834312/

Thanks for the info Holly.  Shame the scalps are not interchangeable with Blythe though.  I like the look of the body construction especially the pivotal knee joints.  Another question for you - are her hip joints pivotal or do they only move back and forth? I really want one of these now but I will have to wait a while as I have no spare cash at the moment.  I hope these dolls become really popular and continue to develop.  I really love the Moxie Teenz dolls and I think it such a shame that they have now been discontinued.

The hip joints are pivotal, she can't do a full side split but she can get about half way down ^_^.  It is a shame and a surprise about Moxie Teenz :(  I'm really tempted to get another Tangkou for customizing, but it will have to wait.. roll on payday! ^_^

I will keep on loving the MT dolls even though they are not making any more.  I think they are my favourite type of doll.  I enjoy knitting and making clothes for them as they are not as small and fiddly as Barbie but Barbie sized patterns can be easily adapted to fit them.  The dolls are much loved in Russia and there is an online collectors group that do amazing things with their MT's  - have a quick peek here:  Moxie Teenz in Russia

Anyway back to the Tangkou dolls, I will definitely be getting one as soon as I can.  They look cute and I think it would be fun to knit for them as well.  Barbei & Sindy patterns will probably work for them too.

I had a look at your knitted clothes and they are lovely, can't wait to see what you come up with. I have used Barbie sewing patterns and bought Barbie clothes for Tangkou and they fit perfectly :)

I loved looking at the great photos on that Russian forum you mentioned, I didn't even know you could get a Moxie Teenz boy!  Thanks for sharing, great fun!

I have the Gavin - the boy doll, I don't like the clothes he came with though, a shiny blue suit - it's very 1980's new romantic!

It is good to know that Barbie clothes fit.  I saw your cute pic of Zinnia wearing funky oranges on Flickr - she looks so cute and a bit mischievous too!
