Anyone find any good vintage doll deals? :) I found several....a #6 brunette ponytail for $60....a TNT Julia for $35...and a rare clone playset for $50. I just got my #6 today and she just needs a lip touch up. The rest is on the way. ;)
Yes, isn't it evil, but great to find someone on Ebay that doesn't know what they have? It may sound expensive, but I found a first issue 1963 Black Francie with the Oxidized hair for $225. She was in store stock mint condition. I have read in the doll books she is very rare as she did not sell very well, they only made them for a short while. I have seen people pay over $1000 for this doll.
I also found a number 3 Barbie for a little over $200. I thought I was hallucinating, but she wasn't listed as a #3. When she came...I was so happy to see her ghostly pale milky white skin. I found a TM Commuter set outfit to put her in. She is the center piece of the collection.
I got the original dress for my Twiggy doll from an auction site that uses credit-points instead of money, so I can't quite put a price on it. It came with over a half dozen other outfits, and for the whole bundle I spent what I'd made on auctioning a pair of earrings- not even fancy ones, just some modern costume jewelry.
The Twiggy doll who needed the dress was mistagged at a toy show- the dealer thought it was a Francie with a haircut, another lady looking at the booth gave me the stinkeye for snagging Twiggy for $12.
Kathy, congratulations for getting the Black Francie and the #3. It is amazing to have those rare vintage dolls in your collection.
Allison, that's incredible you got a Twiggy for $12. You lucky son-of-a-gun.
