Excuse the quality, I used my iPad! Also excuse the state of Mia's wig, it needs a good stylin'. One day I might get back into it... I got very discouraged by the rooting... And the expense!

@Terri I agree about Jason. I remember the day I saw he had designed the Michelle Obama's gown that we would have him for much longer designing for our dolls :(

It's in very poor taste.  The subject matter isn't appropriate for a doll or just about any other product.

I was a little taken back when I saw the dolls' head comes off to be exchanged for the hideous one with brown hair and face mask. I was also confused why this would be debuted on mother's day???i will not be adding her to my collection because it looks like an overdone exaggeration of Joan, especially the blonde hair? Joan was known for having brown hair, I thought.

I have many thoughts on the doll, the clothing was beautiful, and the switching out of the head system is very cool. I don't know if I would have chosen this particular character to debut the head switcher- roo system.Like Mary Beth, I was a little horrified that they would pick Joan Crawford to debut-- on mother's day of all things. This might have sounded good in the board room...but...???

I hope they do the new head switching system on other dolls, it would be very useful and is quite ingenious on another note.

Mary Beth...seriously? That's too funny.

Thanks so much Simon, it is nice to get some vindication. And Terri, I got a kick out of what you said about being the crazy doll lady. The craziest thing I've ever had my dolls do is go bungee jumping (I was ten years old) off the stair railing!

Simon, I agree that the reaction is fascinating. In fact, it's much more interesting than the doll herself.

Tonner's dolls do fill a niche and have a big action figure following. I'm not so sure about the movie stars because I don't collect those. There must be an awfully good reason they keep producing them - they make money.

My favorite thing these days about the TDC is the fashion. I like so many of his gowns. That's what I loved about IT's dolls. The fashion was so beautifully designed. Sigh. Jason jumped ship a long time ago.

I didn't know what to think. I knew that she wasn't joining my collection but that was due to the fact that she doesn't blow me away and I need dolls to be really special these days.  Once I began to read the reactions, I wasn't surprised. Most of us identify with our dolls in some form. We aspire to be as beautiful or as well dressed or as shapely. With action figures, this may not be the case. I don't have my dolls acting out scenes from movies and I certainly wouldn't have them acting violently or drunkenly. I'm the crazy doll lady. My dolls aren't.

Hi Mary Beth, so sorry to hear about your past troubles. I can certainly understand how this doll, and the film, would upset anyone who has experienced these sort of issues. It certainly highlights how poorly thought out the doll an the approach has been.

I meant to say Integrity Toys where I said Tonner. Freudian slip.

I was horrified by the "Mommie Dearest" doll. I found the film morbid and terrifying, Joan Crawford was clearly battling severe mental illness.  In fact, she reminded me of my grandmother. I don't think that Tonner meant to condone child abuse, either, but whether they intended to or not, they have severely hurt the feelings of survivors, myself included. Mental illness and child abuse are nothing to toy around with.
