Excuse the quality, I used my iPad! Also excuse the state of Mia's wig, it needs a good stylin'. One day I might get back into it... I got very discouraged by the rooting... And the expense!

Comment by Mary Beth Jennings on May 14, 2013 at 11:04pm I was horrified by the "Mommie Dearest" doll. I found the film morbid and terrifying, Joan Crawford was clearly battling severe mental illness. In fact, she reminded me of my grandmother. I don't think that Tonner meant to condone child abuse, either, but whether they intended to or not, they have severely hurt the feelings of survivors, myself included. Mental illness and child abuse are nothing to toy around with.

Hi Terri, I think the most fascinating aspect of this doll is collectors' reaction to it, both the neg and pos! When I first saw it did seem a bit odd but harmless enough as a piece of kitch memorabilia. Also odd to tie it in with Mothers Day!!
However I certainly didn't see it as condoning child abuse, god forbid, but just the conveying the over the top-ness of the movie and the performance. However I think it is more marketed at the com-con type market rather than fashion doll collectors, how else can they justify the 800 edition size??
I do hope this isn't a sign that they are going to start chasing after that market a la Tonner

Comment by Mary Beth Jennings on April 29, 2013 at 7:49pm LOL, I don't follow horoscopes either!
Comment by Terri Gold on April 29, 2013 at 7:44pm LOL I'm sure there are Libras who have no problem buying dolls or making decisions. OK so I don't follow horoscopes but I think that it's not such a bad thing to take a long time to make a purchase.
Comment by Mary Beth Jennings on April 29, 2013 at 7:32pm I hardly ever get buyers' remorse, probably because I take so long to actually buy a doll. I have terrible indecision, so sometimes it takes me months to commit to buying a specific doll. I think it has something to do with being a Libra.
Comment by Terri Gold on April 29, 2013 at 3:30pm There are possibly 2 or 3 dolls I would have kept if I knew how I'd feel down the road but I do not have any active remorse. I have more problems with dolls I should not have purchased. Those dolls totally overshadow the ones I've sold.
