Princess of Power

Princess of Power was Mattel's 1985 spin off range to the hugely popular Masters of the Universe collection. This new series was primarily aimed at girls, however proved quite popular with boys too. Filmation, who provided the He-Man cartoon where signed up to promote the toyline again with a cartoon series which spawned 93 episodes.

I remember the teaser trailer for She-Ra which was after every He-Man episode, I was desperate to watch it.

Once the show had aired I immediatly wanted a She-Ra, The shops where ready. I had seen Princess of Power already whilst I was collecting Golden Girl but hadn't put She-Ra and Princess of Power together then.

Collecting Princess of Power has a rather bittersweet memory for me as my parents split rather badly during this time 1985/86 so I buried myself into my toys and She-Ra was in the middle of it.

Series 1: 1984-85

Nine fashion action figures, four beasts, and one playset were produced the first year. They included:

Angella ~ Angelic winged guide!

Bow ~ Special friend who helps She-Ra!

Castaspella ~ Enchantress who hypnotizes!

Catra ~ Jealous beauty!

Double Trouble ~ Glamorous double agent!

Frosta ~ Ice Empress of Etheria!

Glimmer ~ The guide who lights the way!

Kowl ~ The know-it owl!

She-Ra ~ Beautiful Princess Adora becomes She-Ra, the most powerful woman in the universe!

Arrow ~ Bow doll's noble flying horse!

Enchanta ~ Beautiful swan flies She-Ra and friends to adventures!

Storm ~ Catra doll's powerful flying horse!

Swift Wind ~ She-Ra doll's magical flying unicorn!

Crystal Castle ~ Home of Princess Adora!

Series 2: 1985-86

Eight fashion action figures, five beasts, a doll carrier, one playset, and eight Fantastic Fashions were produced the second year. They included:

Entrapta ~ Tricky golden beauty!

Flutterina ~ Beautiful flying lookout!

Mermista ~ Mist-i-fying mermaid!

Peekablue ~ Watchful feathered friend!

Perfuma ~ Scent-sational flower maiden!

Scratchin' Sound Catra ~ Jealous beauty!

Starburst She-Ra ~ The most powerful woman in the universe!

SweetBee ~ A honey of a guide!

Clawdeen ~ Catra doll's glamorous cat!

Crystal Moonbeam ~ Nighttime protector of Crystal Castle!

Crystal Sun Dancer ~ Daytime protector of Crystal Castle!

Crystal Swift Wind ~ She-Ra doll's magical flying unicorn!

Sea Harp ~ Magical seahorse carries She-Ra and friends to adventures!

Butterflyer carry case

Crystal Falls playset

Series 3: 1986-87

Five fashion action figures, two beasts, and eight Fantastic Fashions were produced the third year. They included:

Bubble Power She-Ra ~ The most powerful woman in the universe!

Loo-Kee ~ Hides and sees all in Etheria!

Netossa ~ Captivating beauty!

Shower Power Catra ~ Jealous beauty!

Spinnerella ~ Dizzying defender!

Royal Swift Wind ~ She-Ra doll's royal flying unicorn!

Silver Storm ~ Catra doll's silver flying horse!

Series 3 was cancelled prematurely, due to dwindling sales, so many toys advertised never made it to store shelves. Three fashion action figures, a beast, a vehicle, and a new playset were all planned, but never mass-produced. They included:

Jewelstar ~ Hidden beauty!

Starla ~ Bright and beautiful leader of the Star Sisters!

Tallstar ~ Lovely growing lookout!

Glory Bird ~ Flying friend of the Star Sisters!

Bubble Carriage vehicle

Star Caverns playset ~ Home of the Star Sisters!

Cystal Falls was my favorite playset as a kid. It was great but you had to clean it a lot and it did leak all over sometimes ha ha

I am having a She-Ra marathon at the moment. I have the 3 USA box sets. I do have a multi-region DVD player but am just in the process of converting them to multiregion. They are playing great now on my PS3.

I have scanned some of the artwork too.
