Ooo...another Lilly creation now on my pc  as desktop wallpaper! Again I'm in awe of the feature stitching on the jeans...and the cute little belt!

Your idea to add ties on top of the elastic is inspired! Thank you. This shirt I'm making now looks like it has travelled the oceans, been nibbled by exotic creatures and has now been passed on to a much smaller pirate but I think I've learned a lot. I will post when done!

this is a little sketch with the sleeve (flat not yet on the garnment)

the top sketch show you the idea when done

you could use an elastic thread inside the cuff. you sew it at both end.

then you sew a piece of cord at each end that you will be able to tie.

I do not know if this help

dolly cheers

My pirate shirt is approaching completion (where is that goggle eyed emoticon when you need him?) I was very stuck with the cuffs, as action man has such huge hands. In the end I have made them drawstring, but short of tying the cords in a bow I'm not sure how to tighten up, and fasten off the ends neatly when tight...currently the ties reach the floor when tied tightly. I'm trying things with buttons..threading the cord through but any ideas welcome. To be clear, I need to loosen the ties to get the shirt on and off, and then tighten when the shirt is on..or he is overwhelmed with wide sleeves.

thanks Deborah, I should say that I am feeling a bit more comfortable now, I changed a bit the original pattern to make the jacket bigger, as I want Fabio, to be able to wear a sweater under it (for the coming winter.)I am working right now on another suit "prince of wales" print. I am so on it right now I cannot stop working for my men hee hee
