hey cathy! i recommend starting with something simple like a pencil skirt, also i recommend working with a very forgiving fabric such as jersey (t-shirt material).  after you get used to it, take a look at some of early/vintage barbie clothes, like best buy era fashions, they are pretty easy to replicate as they are very simplistic, have fun, the more you try the easier it will get!

I love that term "wrap & hope" it does add the kind of "luck filling"to it hee hee

I just place the explanation in my blog. do not hesitate to ask if you need any help. I am still on the basic of kimono, I this is my first attempt

certainly things will change (for the best I hope)in the next one

Dolly cheers

Ooooo! Just when I was thinking that using a pattern might help. (instead of wrap and hope!!)

Looking forward to your new pictures Lilly.

you need quite a long piece of fabric to make a Kimono (almost 1m) but you can reduce it if you separate the front from the back making a seam at the shoulder (green line)

I will place in my blog a full explicative page.

Yoko is waiting right now for her new kimono . her friend Esteban Hernandez , from Colombia, is an Opera singer  (lyric Tenor) and he will come very soon to rehearsal Madame Butterfly, and even if Yoko does not sing she still want to look at her best

I will post now all the outfits I made for my gang for the Christmas party

here I will start by Yoko and her Kimono in the next pic I will post the pattern I made and used for this .

please fell free to use it if you want.

I lined the garment, as I like the finish better this way (and my doll too ) but I think that if you are a beginner, it would be easier without lining.

as usual you will fin more pics in my blog

eh here he is!!! you did a great job!! it is fare from easy to start sewing, I am very please that you didn't quite!! I love the lace accent on the neckline. may be you could cross it a bit more on his chest except if you wanted to show his hairy chest hee hee.

Excellent debut my friend !!!

Merry Christmas to you too
