This is the latest pattern I tried. I am pretty happy with the results.

Comment by Melody Smith (Mel) on May 24, 2011 at 0:45 Well, this one is gorgeous also. I am not so hot at button holes, regular or tiny!
I would love to try the pattern you have shown. I have a beautiful piece of rich purple with gold filigree(swirls). I think it would work beautifully.
I like how you posed your doll with the pattern behind. Very clever.
ho the button are tiny but I actualy use snap as well (no button hole this tiny hi hi hi
I got all the haute dolls and even some patterns in double if this can interested you . I tried (when living in Canada this was easy) to buy all the vogue/simplicity/Mccall patterns. I got one in double (given to me by the fabric store hee hee they knew me pretty well there ) if you want it I will sent it to you (free) let me know I will place a pic her with Marie next dress
Comment by Melody Smith (Mel) on May 23, 2011 at 15:04 Wow!you did a fabulous job on this dress. I see you have more patience as you sewed on the tiny buttons... I usually use snaps. I also love your fabric choice.
It's true the subscriptions are high, that's one thing about this and other sites, at least you're not paying to see what's available. I also plan to continue to buy more patterns as I am able.
I have a few new pieces of fabric to try, just haven't cut out the patterns yet. I like to have them cut and ready and then sew at night when we're relaxing for the evening (in my favorite chair) or in the early morning for coffee time before getting ready for work.
I agree making clothe is truly enjoyable!! I always buy my dolls naked, as I am not a collector I do not mind the re-sale value. I put my hand on all the patterns I can find and some time just..cut/sew/try on hee hee!, not always with succes :(
I bought (almost) all the patterns on the market for Gene and Tyler dolls, and Hubby knows pretty well the e-address of the Pattern maker on the web like: Sister Mary Joseph

I was thinking as well about subscription on FDQ but $72 for 4 mags it's way over my tiny budget!!
I just on "the working process" of having back issues for $20.00 :)
Comment by Melody Smith (Mel) on May 21, 2011 at 22:58 Thank you for the pattern site! I will be checking it out as soon as I finish on Doll Observer. I wouldn't mind having some ethnic dolls. I only have Kens and they look puny next to my beautiful Genes. I will have to keep watch for what's out there as I continue to try to save money.
I also miss the Haute Doll, it had so many different dolls, some I'd never even heard of. There is FDQ(fashion doll quarterly) but it's $10. I suppose I should subscribe. At least there is collecting, hoping to collect more and making them clothes...a truly enjoyable pass time!

here you have free pattern for Gene and Tyler (maybe you can re adjust them)
Russel Williams is a black man from R Tonner I have +- 30 16'dolls in my gang and I like to have a bit of different ethnics
I found a site with free pattern, I forgot the name right now when I find it I will post it for you (they are free) I am as well looking for free patterns and transform them. I did the same dress as your for my best friend Christmas, using as well the pattern from Haute doll
I am so disappointed that Haute doll stopped, I loved the patterns in it. the doll reader that is supposed to carry on Haute doll does not do the trick.
