If I were marketing a new doll and wanted her to take off like wildfire, I'd give her some interesting modifications and an insouciant t-shirt, then email a picture to the most gossippy batch of easily offended people I could find with the caption, "Would you LOOK at that!?"  Hahaha.

Can't wait for them to say something!  Trust me nobody will even bother to listen to them.

Ada, as usual I'm late to find out about everything. :) I was wondering why the Tokidoki cost so much!  I suppose the high resale prices are proof that any PR is good PR.  Europe is only a mouse-click away with online ordering. So if the American parents who didn't like Barbie found out about Steffi, the Atlantic Ocean wouldn't provide sufficient buffering to absorb the complaints. She'd sell out also, and be unobtainable. Shhh... nobody tell them! :)

Glad you like her guys! She's so pretty. I doubt parents will make a big fuss about her tattoos as she's a German doll and shes'marketed for Europe. Here parents aren't that strict so no scandal for Steffi. :P

xGlamFairyx Initially she was like 70$ but after the scandal she was sold out and now people are trying to make a profit. That's why she's so expensive on eBay.

Most people who complained about Tokidoki Barbie aren't very likely to stumble upon their children playing with her. Since she's selling online for $550-$900, I doubt anyone but collectors will ever see this doll in real life, and they wouldn't leave her within reach of little ones.

that controversy is so strange really (i'll stay polite) it is not a barbie for the kid to play with, and it is very limited right? plus it seem that people discover this as a first but Goldie Hawn was on shelve too right? not so long ago what 2009?) and OMG did she had tatooes

Interesting! I wonder if her tattoos will be as controversial as Barbie's??
