Barbie Basics 2.5

The official release for the next wave of the highly successful Barbie Basics is sometime in August. And this time they come with articulation, YAY! The prototype pics are veritably mouthwatering and the accessories  are looking pretty cool too. So far my favourite has to be model #14. How about you?

Oh yay!  Thank you for checking Miranda!  I have #14 a second set of 2010 Harleys (love me that articulated Ken!) and the 2.5 shoe pack.  I can't wait until Christmas...(I am packing them right away for our move but will gift them to myself for Christmas! =D)

Don't be worried she is the same skin tone. I have the 2010 Harley Barbie too and I have compared them,,, your safe. =D Although you might fall for #14 and not want to swap her head. She is a beauty!!!

They look fantastic!  Although now I'm concerned because #14 looks much darker that the above photo.  Now I am concerned that she's too dark to rebody my 2010 Harley Barbie!!!

Well that is just sad.  But maybe that means they will expand the Fashionista line.  I don't even mind the Swappin' Styles, but wish they could figure out a better way to swap them.  I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I know what you mean I have a hard time justifying buy a doll that costs over $100. They are lovely but a killer on the wallet. I do hope Mattel keeps up the articulated bodies. I don't know if they will do this with the basics again. Mattel has announced the next basics line will be the last. :(  Its gonna be swimsuits and there will not be as  many dolls in this one either. Keep your fingers crossed I hope its not the last. =D

LOL, Miranda, you are probably right!  I do hope they continue to expand the articulation in the Basics line.  If they are following what folks are doing with their dolls they should know how thrilled people would be to have the different face molds and skin tones in fully poseable dolls!  (Including the guys from the most recent basics line!)  i'm a cheapskate, and have a hard time paying $20 for a doll who doesn't do much.. BUT articulation will make them totally worth it in my book!

You're welcome Deborah! I think Mattel does that so we will buy more. It's all a marketing scheme.

Thanks Catherine and Miranda!  I thought so too!  I wish they would have just fully articulated the Harley gal.  It made no sense to articulate Ken, but not Barbie!  I'm ordering mine from Barbie Collector today! =D

Yes I agree model #14 would be the best match so is the Elvis Barbie.
