Barbie Basics 2.5

The official release for the next wave of the highly successful Barbie Basics is sometime in August. And this time they come with articulation, YAY! The prototype pics are veritably mouthwatering and the accessories  are looking pretty cool too. So far my favourite has to be model #14. How about you?

Model #14 would be the best match. :)  I had the 2010 Harley Barbie and she has a peachy skin tone. I have seen many new pictures (not stock photos) of model # 14 and she is definitely the better match. I bought a couple of her for my own lighter flesh tone dolls. Hope that helps.

Does anyone know which model (4 or 14) would be a better body tone match for the 2010 Harley Barbie?

I ordered two 2.5 dolls today too and one of the fashion packs. came out to $50 and change! I heard about that too with the articulation bummer!!! Mattel really knows how to get you excited for something then it is not completely what you expected ;(

So these are now available on the BarbieCollector.com website.  They are running a special where you get so much off if you spend a certain amount. I bought 3 of the new 2.5 basics and it totaled at $52 something WITH shipping. That is approx. $17 per doll. Not too shabby. HOWEVER, via Flickr I see they do not have the articulation under the bust. Which I find disappointing.

I have 7 right now although, 2 will be traveling to my 'nieces' and 2 more are slated to become OOAK recreations. But I mainly use my 2 fashionistas (a blonde and a brunette) and my 2010 Harley Ken. (whom I LOVE!!!)

that 's the main problem shipping is as much as the price of the doll basically.

I am always buying my dolls necked to reduce the price as much but still! I cannot afford as much as I would love. anyway now I turn more toward stories and blog and sewing and pictures with my actual gang, 30 dolls it's already a good number to play with.

The Tonner dolls are gorgeous but way out of my price range.  I can only imagine how outrageous the shipping is overseas.

Deborah I cannot ask for a Babie for Christmas I still (one of my girls actualy does) need a Rusell (tonner) and the price quite double with the shipping (talk about frugal hee hee) but I am quite lucky as hubby love the basic as well !

I know exactly how you feel Lilly, I will definitely be watching for Toys R Us Barbie sales to grab one!  (I'm a frugal kinda gal and have a hard time justifying $20 for a, well, basic doll)...BUT since I am wanting the Pirates of the Caribbean duo as well, I know what I am asking for for Christmas! =D

I should say that the non-articulated Barbie's body was a problem for me. I love to play with my Gang, and the articulated are "better players pals" . Hubby offered me a fashionista and I was in love again! now they are doing this beautiful line?? I really adored the first basics , black dress and jeans, but now they will be ARTICULATED???? how am I going to resist??
