Okay, now I just HAVE to show you what I just made.

Just this afternoon I was whining in the Six Inch Dolls group that I couldn't find fitting furniture for my dolls' dollhouse, that either everything was too big (Barbie) or too small (1:12 dollhouse scale) unless I could find Pippa and Dawn stuff online. I really didn't want to spend too much money on the stuff and besides, I didn't think the Pippa and Dawn stuff looked too good.

So, I decided to try and make a sofa myself. I gotta say, I've tried before, but it never worked out well. I've tried covering small cardboard boxes in fabric, but those attempts never turned out very well. So when I went out to get my groceries at the supermarket, I was looking around like a magpie, searching for any usable material to build my own sofa, haha.

So, here you go. Made out of sponges, glue and a few pins because the glue didn't hold very well: my own, totally hip, comfortably soft and extremely cheap, sponge sofa.

I couldn't be happier right now!! I'm buying another pack of sponges tomorrow to complete the set!

No it's really just the sponges, when I don't glue them together they dry out and arch as well :(

or it could be the glue that shrunk while drying?

may be you should try to wash the sponges before gluing them?

also the "fluid"in the sponge can (maybe) discolor or damage your dolls??

Haha!

Unfortunately the sponges have dried out a bit, apparently there was some kind of fluid/cleaning stuff inside. The drying has caused the sponges to arch, so the sofa isn't very pretty anymore :(. I've tried working around this when making a new sofa, but no luck so far...

New photo of friends catching up on my sponge sofa. Doesn't the sponge sofa match my paper tablecloth wallpaper perfectly? :P

Budget decorating at its best. Hey, I'm a poor student.
