Messy hair

A few weeks ago I bought a Monster High doll and as I opened the box I realized that her hair was really messy. At the beginning I thought that it was only a couple of locks, but her hair looks really tangled and it evens looks frizzed on her hair ends. What can I do to make her hair look smoth and perfectly combed without damaging it?

Just in case you need more info, the doll is an Scaris Clawdeen Wolf. Her hair was supposed to look wavy but it just seems tangled

Could you help me?

  • Thanks Annette! I hope I can make a new post soon (we're working on some art supplies for dolls), but I'm afraid that I don't have as much time I'd like to work on dolly stuff. When I began with this project I was unemployed and I had plenty of time to spend on my computer working on printables etc, but now that I'm working again I only have sundays to do this.

By the way, I've just realized that I didn't add a link to your flickr on my blog, but I'm gonna fix it inmediatly

    Cheers!

  • That's so sweet that you mentioned me!  Thanks!  Clawdeen's hair turned out beautifully, I'm glad it was a success.  PS. I'm following your blogs via my email, keep up the good work

  • Thanks Annette! Till today I haven't got the time to fix Clawdeen's hair. Her hair was soooo messy that I couldn't barely comb it.I've poured some hot water over her hair and combed it several times, but she's been loosing hair and I've stopped because I didn't want to mess it. I'm waiting till her hair dries to see if it looks ok. I'll upload some photos soon.

Once again, thanks for your useful tips

  • Well nothing, lol! I also did not know how to fix it. Im going to try the boiling water process myself.
I love the Monster High dolls but its unfortunate that the hair can be less then stellar quality sometimes.

  • Thanks for your tips!

I though of using spray conditioning to comb it properly, but I was afraid that it could damage the colour or make her hair look dirty. I couldn't belive when I read that some people use fabric softener (like the one you use in your washing machine? really?)

I thinc I'll try your method of pouring hot water and then combing her hair. That won't damage that little piece of hair that she's got gathered on a side of her hair.

    Thanks!

  • My Scaris Ghoulia had awful frizz at the ends of her hair, so I gave her a boil perm.  I have also heard of people washing hair with mild shampoo and conditioning with fabric softener to help eliminate frizz.  I have not tried that method.

If you want Clawdeen to have straight hair, comb out her hair, and pour boiling water over her head.  Comb the hair while it is damp, and repeat pouring the boiling water over it and combing until it is nice and smooth.

Try this link to a previous post I made with before and after pictures of Ghoulia's boil perm and Draculaura's boil straightening.
